UNMUTE INCLUSIVE DANCE TRAINING

This is an Inclusive Performing Arts Curriculum that focuses on integrating disability and arts. Young unemployed youth with disability and without disability are scouted around the country to receive full time training from qualified and experienced facilitators within the field of integrated arts. The training focuses on Inclusive Dance Technique, Sign-Dance Technique (fusion of Sign Language and dance), African Contemporary Dance Technique and Conceptualization course.
After the training they are offered a contract to be employed within the company as facilitators, dancers and choreographers.

UNMUTE INTEGRATION OUTREACH

Company’s facilitators work with selected schools each year (schools for the Deaf, Blind, Physical Disabilities, Special Needs and main stream schools) and community groups, Using performing arts to transfer skills/empower, educate and motivate the youth/pupils, also creating a bridge of integration between the schools/students.
The programme is aimed at encouraging the pupils at a young age to break the barriers and stigma that is attached to disability and make them realise that we are all abled and have our own abilities and that no one is confined by physical limitations.

ARTSABILITY INCLUSIVE RESIDENCY

Unmute Dance Company selected professional artists from all over the world and from different genres (music, dance, drama etc.) in a 4 week long residency. This entails workshops and master classes that aim to encourage these artists to incorporate integrated arts in their respective genres and employ more artists with disability in their practices.

ARTSABILITY RURAL INTERVENTION 

This is an annual artistic rural residency that focuses on inclusion of persons with disability in to the main-stream society in the rural areas. The project is aimed at reaching the outskirts of the big cities, providing training and workshops for people living with disability in schools and youth groups in the rural areas; reaching out to communities (halls, recreation/art centres, universities etc.) educating and introducing integrated arts through performances, seminars and exchange programmes
